The process of being selected for the student council was a wonderous journey, though filled with many difficulties. I have always wanted to help this school become a better place for all, and being a part of student council is a great way to do so. When I first read through the self-nomination form, I was perplexed by the questions asked and often found myself being unable to answer. The questions made me interrogate my own ethics and made me reflect upon whether or not I am fit for the Student Council. When I first got selected for the next round, I was not aware that we had an addition to the process of being selected for the student council. I was first informed of the GD when I reached the atrium, and it was announced that the ‘interview’ round would not take place. I had multiple questions, and even though I had most of them answered, I still could not get around the idea of a Group discussion. When the Group discussion transpired, I enjoyed it a great deal, and I believe that this round was the most interesting of all. We were given a topic, and we were required to agree or disagree with the topic. After, we had to present our thoughts in 1 minute. It felt like a debate, but the opponents couldn’t rebut. After being selected for the speech round, I was ecstatic. It was the first time in 2 years I was selected for the last round. Right after the results were revealed, I was informed that the speech was in the same week! I was astonished by this news, and the night before speech day, I kept editing my speech constantly. The following day, I delivered my speech, and I was confident that I had done well. The day after the speech, I left for ISSO. A day after I came back, the results were announced. I couldn’t believe that I had been selected, but I calmly walked onto the stage. To conclude, the process of being selected for the student council was extraordinary, and I look forward to implementing my thoughts and Ideas in the student council.
