This year, Eid was celebrated for the first time in our school, and it was just great! The charged atmosphere of the time we assembled in the hall, all dressed in our fineries, raring to experience this new thing, was palpable. I was honoured to be the first one to introduce Eid, especially what it means to be together, to give, and understand one another. It was just delightful to share our cultural identity with everyone.
After that, Mr. Rakhim was introduced. Well, does this man have interesting insights to share, or what? He elaborated on the fasting during Eid and how this practice is not only a spiritual journey but also offers a host of health benefits. He explained how fasting may help detoxify the body and even improve mental clarity, so it is a healthy exercise. His lecture was not only informative but also inspired great interest among the students with the science behind traditional practices.
Next, Paavni and Gireesha presented a poem together that was really touching. Their combined effort beautifully captured the very spirit of Eid, reflecting its spiritual significance and the unity it fosters. Listening to them, one could feel the deep personal connection they all had toward this celebration. It added so much depth to the assembly.
Not to be outdone, Himja sang a song that really lifted the spirits of the audience. Her melodious voice and the lively tune made the hall festive, perfectly complementing the speeches and poems. Her performance was successful in lighting up our celebration.
Although the meeting was brief and there were no dances, it was a kaleidoscope of joy and cultural wealth, with every minute of it packed with a heady mix of education and celebration.
I am very proud of this new tradition that our school has embraced open-handedly, and I just look forward to future Eid celebrations. Celebrating Eid together is like understanding each other's cultures in the most beautiful and perfect way to build up a better and more cohesive society.
Here's to hoping this becomes an annual tradition at our school! Cheers to many more vibrant Eid celebrations! ??
