With DP1 ending and the college application season inching ever so closer, the Indian Universities Fair on 16th May is just what the doctor ordered. Students and parents alike had the opportunity to interact and have pertinent discussions regarding the university life, campus culture, admissions process and more at 30+ top Indian universities including Ashoka University, Plaksha University, Masters Union and more.
The entrance to the school was lined with desks and crowded with the 150+ parents and students. The atmosphere was buzzing with curiosity with the unique questions that each student posed to their potential future university. “What is the entrepreneurial culture like?”, asked a budding business student. “Will there be research opportunities?”, asked a budding academician. All types of questions had an answer at the fair.
Such meticulously organised fairs by the college counselling department are extremely important in the journey of both students and parents as we navigate through our college application journey. After all, these are the places we all may be going off to in just a year’s time!
Getting an opportunity to ask Indian universities questions regarding the admission process for IB students reveals to us crucial information which we may not have had earlier - opening new doors that would’ve otherwise remained unexplored.
Not only this but the preceding session by a founding member of Plaksha University, Dr. Manas provided students and parents alike with great insight into the thought process behind the development of curriculum at a modern Indian university such as Plaksha. Talking about hands-on learning through his experience at Stanford and other interesting stories, he engaged the audience throughout the discussion on future career choices. Discussions around AI and the automation of jobs
This was followed by a session by the Clever Harvey team which educated students about their College Catapult program which has the potential to “catapult” students to their dream colleges! Advice on SAT timelines, developing high quality extracurricular activities coupled with Clever Harvey’s very own Junior MBA courses, the catapult program was positioned as a meaningful choice for students that wished to take their college application to the next level!
Thanks to the college counselling department, the day was packed with opportunities for students to meaningfully engage with people that could provide them with advice and answers to the many questions they are bound to have. We hope for more such events in the future to help all Pathways students and their parents make an otherwise the confusing college application process just a little bit easier.
